Well, here we are again, back at the jolly old blog site.This time I will get into children, new and old, and my present day wife, Marlene. As you recall J heart passed. Well I tried to go on with things for a while and one night I , how should I say this, tried to go out sideways. I will not go into the details, let's just say I was in hospital for a stay. Thank goodness my neighbour, at the time, found me when he did. A year later my good friend Jeff, ( I have known him since I was 4), well, we were talking and he mentioned to me that a mutual friend that we knew had finished a 25 year relationship,( and had been out on her own for a couple of years, and that maybe just to get me away from the shrine I had created for J heart, I should meet up with Marlene. At first I agreed, but immediately changed my mind, and called him back to tell him forget it. Too late, he had called Marlene. A few days later she telephoned and said " If there's a free meal involved, she would go out with me. Needless to say we had a lovely dinner out, and spoke alot about Janet. After a few weeks we went out again, once again another pleasant evening. I loved and still do like fine dining out. So we made a point of "doing dinners". I was really falling for this gal, she was so different in her way of thinking,we are to this day kindred spirits.
I remember driving her home one night and she leaned over and gave me a kiss, so I asked if I could give one back. That lasted me days. Now the furthest thing from both our points of view was starting a relationship or God knows fall in love. But it happened and she is a Darling. We have been together for 10 years now, but it seems shorter. Marlene, or sometimes I call her Lene, is the type of gal who would have no quims about sticking a canoe on her back and portaging a kilometer. That's the gal she is, loves the outdoors, gardening like I've never seen, early morning to dark. Infact she is out there now.
We eventually moved in together and got engaged. Lene has 2 children, Jackie, who is 29,and Adam, who is 26,(and getting married this year). I have 2 children Julia 25, and Elgin 22. They all live such different life styles.Jackie works with seniors as a recreational director, and lives around 8 miles away with her long time partner Bob. He is a musical genius that produces cd's and albums, and is a very talented musician as well, he is all over the youtube. Adam , has of a year ago worked with a place called the working centre and his job there is managing greenhouses,gardening and selling microgreens to different restaurants and specialty food stores. He seems to enjoy it. Adam is also as mentioned, getting married to a gal called Stephanie. To tell you the truth, Lene and I have only met her on a few occassions. She is in the nursing services. Julia and I have only connected over the past little while. I am just starting to get to know her again. Julia is with a very decent fellow named Chris, they have been together for six or more years. They just recently bought a beautiful house and new car. They both have steady jobs, and both recently, got promotions. They live about an hour and a half away in a town called Tillsonburg. Now we get to Elgin.
Elgin came to live with us at age 16. At the time he was having a rough go at things living in Burwell with his mother and her partner. Missing school and full of piss and vinegar. We had only been married for less than a year, and we had an empty nest. Under the circumstances we decided to invite him to live with us, and he heartily agreed. The one stipulation we asked was that he would have to finish his education when he came up.He started the new school the day after he arrived, and completed Highschool, in the years that followed. He also had a broken hand later, a broken jaw later, and a sliced up arm later,( that we thought he would ever use again). But it did. Egg-head as I call him, or just Eg, is going through some tough times right now. I just know he will figure things out , being the spawn of my groin , that he is.
We are now empty nesters, if that makes any sense at all. We live in a town called St. Jacobs, which is an old order mennonite community. People who still plow fields with horses and dress in black, and make lots of maple syrop. I am a very content man, We have a dog called Moragh, but we know her as Raggy, and countless other names. We have now aquired an african grey parrot , that is 10 years old and talks, ( Oh shit), being something it picked up. Now some pictures of Marlene and I;

Hi David and Marlene, OK will the real David and Marlene please stand up ? Liked the photos, very funny ! Just spent 5 weeks with the grandchildren, tell you about it later. I've just put a post up about 1989 if you're interested.Keep us posted about Elgin, you're obviously caring for him. I feel sorry for young men of his generation, just glad it's not me. Sandra's envious as hell of your parrot. When we got home we had a pet mouse till I murdered it, it refused to pay rent !
