Well like I was saying, we had the new house, and the property 5 minutes down the road. I was at the time commuting back and forth from Kitchener to Port Burwell every day. That is about an hour and three quarters each way. It got pretty scary during the winter months with some of the white out conditions here. My new wife didn't have a job yet, so I was the bread winner. I had a little pick-up truck that would zip me up and down the highway, which was also good on gas. Each night when I got home, I would clean the house, eventually feed myself, and play and do homework with the kid's. Janet would sit all day watching soap operas on t.v.. It got to the point that any chance I had, I would just go down the highway to my property, and spend my time there, usually most week-ends. After a year or more, she was offered a job in a plant greenhouse, she would have had to work late afternoon till 10:00 at night. I remember on the first night , getting the call, " I am cold, come and pick me up". End of that job. She was just the biggest lazy-ass you could ever meet. We argued all the time. I would sign my paycheck over to her, and in return, she would give me, gas money,( which she had figured out some how), and that was it, I never had 2 cents in my pocket at any given time. My Dad would say to me here's a couple of bucks son, go get yourself some smokes. My Dad really helped me out a lot then. As time progressed we eventually slept in separate bedrooms me upstairs with the kids and her downstairs with the t.v..We ended up doing this for two and a half years, wasn't good.
Now at the time I had a work partner called, what else Janet. We would share our stories, and she was living much the same life as me, three son's and a dick for a husband, we became good friends. At the end of every week we would send happy Friday cards to each other. She and her fella would visit us in Burwell in the summer time and stay over,( they used to do an awesome firework displays over the lake down there in an event called tubdaze). Bands would be playing ,food , beer tents, great time. As you can imagine Janet and I started getting a bit closer. The following time she came down with her younger son and stayed a week, and the time after that, she came by herself. We fell in love in the time we worked together. That romance grew. She ended up being a soulmate. Our relationship at work caused a scandal, the union was involved, we were dragged up to the 6th floor of work, in a plant of 3000 people they all knew of us, and work became difficult , big gossip. Very strange we only just hung out on breaks with each other, we talked with each other and that was it. period. We must have really radiated something though.-
later. So as time moved on , so did Janet and I.
This is turning into a Samuel Pepys diary, my gods. How about I stick some old Photo's in here:
I once jumped this wall to get apples for Ronnies fruit press. I remember being told , " get the rotten ones on the ground.
Minard, in all it's grandeur.
